The National Day capsule collection

June 23^rd, Luxembourg’s National Day, offers a timely occasion to celebrate our dynamic and multicultural country as a symbol of unity and diversity. To honour Luxembourg’s proud sense of camaraderie, youthful energy, teamwork and achievement, vol(t)age launches the 963 Luxembourg Varsity collection.

Inspired by sporting values (passion, self-belief, respect, honesty, determination and teamwork) this National Day capsule collection takes a fresh, namely, Luxembourgish take on iconic American collegiate fashion. The result is an original alliance between classic athletic aesthetics and Luxembourg’s national identity and compelling history.

For this new collection, vol(t)age introduces 963, a signature number featured on various designs to highlight the country’s roots.
Famously, Siegfried (a.k.a. Siggy), count of the Ardennes, is said to have founded Luxembourg in 963, when he acquired the “Bockfiels”.
Lucilinburhuc, the ‘small castle’ perched on that rocky promontory overlooking the Alzette valley provided a basis for not only the development of one of Europe’s strongest fortresses, but ultimately for the town that would become Luxembourg City.

To sweeten the story of the foundation of Luxembourg with a dash of romance, Luxembourgers have linked it to the legend of Melusina. This love story between a mermaid and Count Siegfried has become an integral part of Luxembourgish folklore.
